Our guide on how to remove tomato sauce stains from carpet
I don’t know about you but I love tomato sauce on everything. It disgusts my husband watching me ‘ruin’ meals with it but I can’t help it – it’s my favourite.
Hubby insists that if my saucy indulgence drops onto the carpet, it will cause a permanent stain. I thought I’d look into it, in a good natured effort to prove him wrong!

Step 1Scrape off excess sauce gently with a butter knife. Be careful not to spread the stain further during this step. Take your time. |
Step 2Ironically lemon, a much healthier condiment choice than tomato sauce, is a fantastic cleaning weapon to use during this process. Squeeze the lemon onto a clean white cloth and dab the juice onto the stain. Roll your finger across the stain, taking care not to rub too hard. You will need to repeat this step several times. |

Step 3Rinse the area with some cold water to remove sticky sauce residue (I’m told it’s loaded with added sugar). |
Step 4Dry the area by patting it with another clean cloth or paper towel. To dry the area a little quicker, place a fan adjacent to the damp area and let it blow for a few hours. |
